It’s always motivating when you come across someone who is achieving financial freedom by making money on the internet. One person proving that you can make money selling domain names is millionaire Eric Borgos.

For years now he has been making money online since he first started on the internet in 1995, developing websites for others before concentrating on creating websites for himself. It did help to get on the ground floor because in those days a lot of the good domain names were available.

At one point he had 9000 domain names. Can you imagine that? The yearly registration fees alone on those would be over $76,000. He did though end up downsizing a lot of his domains because he didn’t want to be rich on paper only and also wanted financial security in the bank too. That’s when he hit paydirt with his biggest sale when he sold bored .com with some other domains, in 2008, for $4.5 million.

One thing I have noticed about how he operates his online business, is that he is transparent about what he does. In his blog he lists the dollar amounts of all his domain sales, how many he sells  and answers most questions thrown at him as indicated in the comment section of his blog and in interviews that he has done. I myself even contacted him by email to see if he was interested in a few of my domain names. I got an answer within hours, although not the one I wanted, which showed he is hands on, approachable and takes his business seriously. I think though he lives and breathes his online business 7 days a week. Who wouldn’t when it’s making a nice sum of money as his is.

Eric Borgos operates his business from home and outsources to workers online. He sells his domain names mainly on sedo, through domain brokers and on his name shopping website. He says on his blog that a lot of his sales are from people directly contacting him who make him offers.  He used to use domain parking for all his unused domains to earn from but has since been putting minisites on them and growing his larger websites. He also continues to experiment with new ideas.

It’s quite an accomplishment what he has been steadily doing over the years, which has motivated me to continue to pursue this avenue of making money on the internet. I’ve sold some domain names myself but nothing at the level that Eric Borgos continues to do.

Who wouldn’t want to be set for life making millions selling domains and never worrying about money again.
