How I Am Making Money With Amazon Associates
Although I have been promoting Amazon on some of my sites, I didn’t really fully utilize the earning potential as I should have, that is until recently. One of my sites took off like a storm about a week before US Thanksgiving. Which is good because you can only imagine the Black Friday sales on Amazon and how much they made just in the one day alone, not to mention all the extra sales they got through their affiliates and what those affiliates earned in commissions. I know because on that day I got almost triple the amount of visitors on my product site who were in the buying mode. Of course now I’m regularly updating the amazon products on that site because afterall it’s Christmas coming up and it only means more commissions from the amazon sales if I do.
My amazon product site isn’t anything fancy and really it doesn’t need to be. I use an amazon plugin to post the products which makes it a whole lot easier. Although the plugin can retrieve descriptions from Amazon for the product, I prefer to reword to make it more unique. For this particular site, I now have one product post scheduled per day and by doing this I am increasing the traffic to the site. How? Every time a new post gets indexed by the search engines, the tagged keywords for the product potentially can bring visitors to the site. And the more keywords you rank for, that means more free traffic from the search engines which equates to sales and what matters the most, commissions from those sales.
Therefore the site isn’t costing me anything much other than a yearly domain registration fee (under $10) plus monthly hosting which is such a small amount since I also host other sites under my web hosting plan and my time (10 minutes per day to create a product post for the site). And the best part of it, the site is now earning daily commissions from Amazon which I am expecting to increase as Christmas draws closer.
The Amazon affiliate program pays anywhere from 4% to 8.5% in commissions which is scaled according to how many products you have sold in a month. It may not seem like such a high commission rate but remember it adds up especially since many times buyers buy more than one product off Amazon and it could even be a high ticket item that can make a considerable commission. Do note that there are affiliates that are making thousands of dollars monthly from Amazon, so that isn’t any small clump of change by any means. All you need to do is get your visitors to the Amazon site through your affiliate link and let Amazon turn that visitor into a buyer as they are good at what they do and have been doing for many years now.
My amazon affiliate site is now worth a lot more because not only is it amounting to passive income with minimal work, but I could down the road flip it for thousands of dollars if it continues to improve and do well. Now that I got the zest back, it’s time to work on my other amazon product sites I have.

Hi Anita,
This has been a real inspiring post as I have recently joined the Amazon Associates program but have not had the zest to really push forward with it yet. How do you go about structuring the sites? As in designed like a blog?
Edrick, I’m glad you found this post inspiring as my main goal was to highlight that the Amazon Associates program is an easier way to set up a site with products to promote that you can make money from. Yes do design the site like a blog, where you can enter review style posts one at a time. For best results update regularly.
